Our Story …

We are really happy to announce that we're taking part in Mystery Box Rally in 2020!!

Part of the requirements for our participation is to raise a minimum of $3,500, we hope to raise well above this amount. These funds go to the Cancer Council.

We are doing this for the people we love that have been impacted by cancer in various ways. If you are donating, please put the name of the person(s) who you are doing this for and we will 'paint' their name on our car!

Mystery Box Rally is one of the largest community lead fundraising events for the Cancer Council in Australia having raised over $4.5 million in the last 8 years.

Part of the requirements for our participation is to raise a minimum of $3,500 but we hope to raise well above this amount. These funds go to the Cancer Council and we are extremely proud to be doing our part to support such a worthy charity. They do some awesome work supporting people with cancer, and funding important research.

Fundraising is the hard part, so any donation you can give is greatly appreciated. Please make sure to follow our progress via this page and the blog post below.

Here's what I'm doing …

Teams will drive their own 25+ year old cars along a mystery route in this unique 5 day challenge, all in the name of cancer research. The route is a loop starting and finishing at the same location, but all the other details are kept under wraps, only given to the teams each morning.

The rally is not a race – it’s a fun, colourful, unpredictable adventure with participants travelling at their own pace in smaller groups. Vehicles often break down but “we never leave anyone behind” and each night is spent camping beneath the stars and celebrating the day’s achievements. It all adds up to an incredible opportunity to see Australia’s vast and beautiful countryside and make lifelong friends, many brought together after experiencing cancer themselves or seeing cancer impact family and friends.

Since it’s inception the rally has been the largest fundraiser for the Cancer Council nationally."

Hi All,

This is my (Aron's) first update, a little bit about why i am doing this. We (my family and I) have all been impacted in various ways throughout our lives due to this devastating disease 'Cancer'. I am doing this to raise awareness, remember those we have lost and to raise funds to find a cure. This is specifically for my Grandmother (Ana) who i was never able to meet and my beautiful cousin (Anoula) who i miss dearly and remember the fun times fondly.

Please know that their names will be embedded on our car as it is in our hearts as we drive the rally.

We would greatly appreciate any donation and in your comment place the name of the person you would like to remember or a person who may be going through cancer now! and we will write their names along side our loved ones.

Blessings

Aron

We would be surprised if there was anyone not affected by cancer either directly or indirectly and the pain and suffering is just as strong be it directly or indirectly experienced. If this nation of ours seriously set its talents and full support to the goal of eradicating cancer by the turn of this decade; it will be done. In memory to "the many". Con & Rose

A brief update... Thank you so much to everyone who has donated to this worthy cause - we are so excited that we have already reached our minimum goal of $3500! And we are just getting started! Paul and I are blown away by your generosity, thank you. Everything we raise above our target will contribute to the larger Cancer Council box rally target and support valuable cancer research.Last week Paul and I inspected the car, and given its age, it is in very good condition. We have a few minor things to fix in preparation for the trip including: suspensions, tyres and brakes. We are installing a CB radio so we can communicate with other cars in the rally. We also need to install  a roof rack and a roof cage.As I’ve mentioned previously, Paul and I are covering all the costs associated with the car’s repairs, equipment etc ourselves. All of your donations through this blog go to Cancer Council and are tax-deductible.Another way you can be part of PAZCAR is by gifting or loaning us gear for our trip:- roof rack for Ford Falcon EB

- roof rack cage

- tyresIf you’d like to assist with any of these, please get in touch with us directly. This is our first foray into “the outback” so we welcome advice and tips from any veterans on your road-trip adventures.Thank you again for your support.Aron and Paul

Hi PazCar Fans, A few things have happened since my last Mystery Box Rally update. First, we reached and then exceeded our fundraising goal of $3,500. We are now at $4,000! Thank you all so much for supporting us and contributing to the cause. It has been amazing to see how generous and caring you are, and to hear your stories about how cancer has impacted each of you. Thank you! Second, thank you Mark Bendeli for creating our PAZCAR Logo (Attached). I am very grateful for his skills and time, and I’m pleased to share that our logo has been authorised by Cancer Council for use in the rally. So next steps are to make some stickers for the car, and team t-shirts 😊! More on that soon. I also want to thank those who have provided goods to support the trip, like my Dad who has provided a 12v to 240v converter. This will allow us to run some of the technology we need for video uploads (hopefully, as videos on the go are more complex than I initially expected). Also thanks to my father-in-law for donating a haul of his raw honey for us to sell to raise funds for the rally. If you would like to buy some, let me know, they are 500g and $8 each. Paul has been working on sourcing manufacturing sponsors for some of the parts we need for the car like breaks, suspension and tyres. This will help us keep our out-of-pocket costs to a minimum and ensure we have a safe trip. Paul and I have also bought our tents and tried them out. We chose one man swag tents that take about 5minutes to setup. I think by the end of the rally we will have it down to a 3min artform!  We are waiting for a dry sunny weekend to “cure” the fabric to ensure the swags are waterproof. If you would like to support our rally through a donation to Cancer Council, or read more information about what we are doing and see our other updates, check out PAZCAR rally.   Thank you again for your support and blessings. Aron PAZCAR.

Good luck and be safe! We would like to remember all those close to us who have suffered due to cancer - either having cancer themselves and/or being close to someone who has. Too many people are physically affected or taken from us prematurely due to cancer. There has been good progress in identifying and treating cancer and implementing preventative measures but we have all seen that more needs to be done so that we can spend more time with our loved ones. Congratulations on supporting a worthy cause.

The Impact, Outcomes & Charity

Mystery Box Rally is a dedicated fundraising event for cancer research with funds going to Cancer Council.

Cancer Council is one of the largest non-government funders of cancer research in Australia. We conduct and fund research studies across all cancers and all stages of the cancer journey.

Thanks to the community funds raised such as Mystery Box Rally we can fund world-class research that reduces the impact of cancer for everyone.

Over $20 million has been raised by Box Rallies to date, supporting ground-breaking projects such as:

  • A research study to develop a vaccine that protects against lymphoma cancers.
  • A research trial to standardise international guidelines on melanoma removal.
  • A research grant to revolutionise the treatment of pancreatic cancer.

These projects wouldn’t be possible without your support.
